Poros - Hydra - Aegina One Day Cruise from Athens

1 star 1 star 1 star 1 star 1 star 47 reviews

Take a day cruise from Athens to the fabulous Greek islands of Hydra, Poros and Aegina for a relaxing day on the sea. With all your transport, transfers and buffet lunch organized, you can sit back and enjoy your leisurely day cruise with free time on each island to explore. After transferring from Athens to Piraeus by motor coach, you'll set sail for the island of Poros, where you'll have free time for strolling and shopping .

Next, it's on to the island of Hydra. You will have about 1 hour and 45 minutes at leisure to enjoy the unique charms of Hydra island, whose amphitheater shape once served as a safe shelter for Saronic Pirates. From the decks, you will be able to admire the very special architecture and dramatic landscapes of this island, whose old traditional stone houses and mansions silently stand witness to a long and turbulent history.

Upon arrival in Egina (Aegina) you can either join an excursion to the Temple of Aphaia (cost not included) or take a walk around the main town. Aegina is one of the Saronic islands of Greece in the Saronic Gulf. The lovely island is only 31 miles (50 kilometers) from Athens, and is a popular getaway for Athenians during the summer months.

After sailing back to Piraeus port you'll be transferred to Athens.

We enjoyed the day cruise, but I would make one strong recommendation---remove one of the destinations (likely Poros). It was an extremely long ride for such a short stayover (at most 30 Minutes for Poros with mainly tourist stores). Our 2 young kids became bored and Seasick as much of the day was on the water with nothing to entertain them (perhaps provide cards and other board games as a service). I would rather have had more time to spend on Hydra (very lovely) and Aegina (nice but seemed short if you take the local tour bus ride). The meal on board was ok, but would rather have the option to eat on one of the two islands (Hydra or Aegina) if the time could be extended there. Of note, the tour brochure said would be back in hotel by 7:30 PM, however, we did not even get back to port until 8:45 PM---so plan for a long and hopefully beautiful day. Drinks and bar service I thought were good and reasonably priced. While this review may seem negative, we did enjoy the time we had on the islands and seeing others along the way. However, for the money spent, there is definite room to improve the experience.

I was impressed by this tour. Very good nature, very good views on the see, and many things were discovered to me. Service of stuff is sutisfied: didn't like behaviour of lady who met us at the hotel reception. I understood that she was in a hurry and there was no time to wait but I was upset by her tone of speaking with clients.

The full-day cruise I loved, well worth the money. This tour included transfers from my hotel; they were punctual, friendly and professional. As you board you get to have your photo taken with two guys dressed in Greek attire who welcome you on board, you can purchase this later on board (lovely souvenir). You get to experience a touch of luxury on board the cruiser liner and you can purchase drinks and food on board while enjoying the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. Lunch is included in the price however it is an early start to the day and if you don’t have breakfast on board you will still get a chance on the first island and the smallest Poros. All the islands are beautiful and each having something making it unique. Plenty of free time is allowed once at the island so one can wonder around, shop, eat swim, whatever you may fancy. On the Island of Egina you have the option of taking a tour of Temple of Aphaia at an additional charge; this was also definitely worthwhile if you are keen on mythology and/or the history of the island. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertained all our questions. Lunch was an awesome Greek spread buffet style, with music and the staff on board making it all the more entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is in Greece for a short time and will not be visiting the bigger more famous islands. This tour will let you experience and get a taste of the Greek Isles and leave you wanting to back for sure. Even as a solo traveller this was a brilliant experience, you get to meet so many people on board or even if you choose to keep to yourself, it will be your heaven on earth for one day at least.

The One Day cruise to the islands was a good fun day out and a good introduction to the islands. The weather wasn't great in October but we still enjoyed the day particularly the visit to Hydra. Enjoyed the entertainment whilst cruising and the lunch was excellent.

Dear Mr Bistolas, I have now spoken to the group and they had a fantastic time in Greece. Thank you so much for helping me put this programme together, they say the excursions were very nice and well-timed, and the island cruise lovely. I hope we can work together again in the future. Regards, Ingeborg

“Excellent cruise”
Was a really good experience, islands were stunning
However, the meal that was promised after the Aegina stop did not materialize!

Hydra, Poros and Aegina - the Saronic Gulf Islands and the place to escape for the Athenians. This day cruise is divided between these islands with the most time being spent on Hydra which is a charming place and just people watching around the harbour is a pleasant past-time. The donkeys transport everything as there are no cars and its quite fascinating watching these animals being loaded up with suitcases after a boat arives from Piraeus with Athenians escaping for the weekend. There is not a great deal on the other two islands but its worth taking the optional tour to an archeoligical site on the island of Aegina. The only downside was the meal provided on the cruise - not the best but edible, Otherwise worth the cost for the views especially returning back to Piraeus with the sun setting over the Pelopennese.

EXCELLENT!!! It is very difficult to choose a favorite from the three islands because each was so different from the other. This is a must do!!!
